A charming village

This charming village nested on foothills the South of Canigou overhangs the valley of Tech and the health resort of Amélie-les-Bains          (6 km). Situated in 600 m. of height, Montbolo offers a magnificent panorama on all the Plain of the .Roussillon up to the sea.


Grateful(Inescapable) stage on the road of the Romanesque art, its church strengthened of the Xth century dedicated to Saint André shelters a Madonna and Child of the XVth century and a magnificent altarpiece of the XVIIIth century. Montbolo which knew how to protect the traditions immortalize on every July 30th since 1465, following a wish of the population, the votive Party of "Rodella".


A place of history and relaxation

Excavations begun in the end of the sixties revealed in broad daylight the eponym Neolithic site of Balma, narrow gallery where was discovered a series of representative ceramic of the primitive average Neolithic (4500-4000 av. J.C). The bare potteries are exposed at Home of the Archaeology of Céret today.


The peace and the serenity of the Botanical garden and the arboretum will charm the natural amateurs whereas the geologic road fitted out near the village will enchant small and big. On the spot also, an area to fall screws fitted out, ideal for outdoor grills and ground of paint ball.
