Corsavy: balcony of the Canigou

 

Corsavy is a picturesque mountain village (alt. 790m) located 11 km away from Amélie-les-Bains. Its cobblestone streets and its oldstone houses will charm you. In addition to that  the surrounding nature will inebriate you with its beautiful landscapes.

 

A must see: the village church (18th century) and its altarpiece of St-Pierre and of Rosary (17th century), the small church of St-Martin (Sant Marti in Catalan) dated from 15th century, the ruins of the castle “El Castell”, the signals tower, the exhibition organized at the library and the Art and Artcraft Museum where you can discover paintings and items from Catalan culture.

 

In the Heart of Nature

 

Leaving the village there is many hikes that are available for those who wish, such as: the paths close to the town, the signals towers and the old iron mines of Batère, the peak of Canigou (2785m, a 6 hours walk), or maybe the peak of Très Vents. There is also A scenic road starting from Arles-sur-Tech that let you go through Corsavy and lead you to the cottage of Batère (1500m), the last operating mining site in our valley.
